Self Defense Tips For The Weak Of Heart

By Rabbin A Cruiz

As a young boy, I was regularly sick. I spent much of my young life in and out of hospitals and, for that reason, was never physically strong. Being a teenager, I was thinner and shorter than my colleagues, and usually picked on in school.

My folks thought, due to this, that it would be a good idea to sign me up for a seminar delving on self defense for beginners. The program trained me in how to defend myself against attackers using a variety of techniques and tools.

Pepper spray turned out to be my preference. It is a non-lethal weapon utilized usually by law enforcement agencies. On contact, a defense spray will disarm an opponent by causing a burning feeling in their eyes and also on their skin, enabling you to escape.

Moreover, strong pepper sprays induce coughing and choking, and make it hard to breathe as well as cause the eyes to tear and swell shut. These effects are momentary and cause no long term damage to a target.

Some of the tools that we looked at were keychain pepper sprays. These small pepper sprays are usually little enough to be concealed in a bag or pocket, or carried in your hand, allowing you to surprise an assailant.

I'm not physically strong enough for hand-to-hand fight that I made a decision to purchase some defense spray for myself. I settled on a 1/2 oz. pepper spray with colored injection molded holster model which was just compact enough to fit on my keychain.

Being a 10% pepper spray, it is not too potent yet it is made of a finer grain that makes it a lot more effective than most others. There's enough spray inside it for 6 to 10 one-second bursts and is inexpensive.

I carry my defense spray with me anywhere I go and I feel safer because of it. I don't regret studying self defense for beginners, as you can't put a price on the confidence you will get from realizing that you can protect yourself.
