Do you have to pay big money for trucking school?

By Houston Rodgers

You may be amazed to discover how much money these big trucking schools are charging folks to learn how to run a truck. If you get a chance call the most known most popular companies and ask them what are your fees for trucking school? You might fall out of your chair. They are very proud of their training it must come dipped in diamonds or silver for the prices I have heard about, wow.

If you are an individual that has thousands and thousands of dollars to spare then this post doesn't impact you. You can afford to pay an instructor to instruct you and 30 other people how to operate a truck. Yes, there will be plenty of other people in the class tipping the student to truck ratio usually to 30:1 or worse. So consider how much time you will actually spend in the truck? If there are thirty or more people in your class all with the same goals and dreams then where do you think that lands you? How long do you think you'll have to actually use the truck? Do you think you'll end up pissed off wishing you had more time driving like some of the articles I've seen online?

Trucking school teachers are well known about in trucking circles, ask one and see. It is crazy the stories you hear about the CDL school instructors. Many new drivers I talk to are surprised when they meet some of these people. Its really all about attitude. Some people for some reason enjoy the chance of being in authority over somebody. They just love to have someone to yell at or put down. It happens all too regularly these days. You do not have to deal with these types of people. People like this serve as a reminder that we should treat everyone with equal humility we want for us.

One of the least known expenses that's hidden in the costs of trucking school is the interest. The CDL training companies like to lead individuals to finance their training. They claim its an investment because its for your job after all right? Well imagine this. These companies are typically evasive when the hard questions get asked. Like, how long does it take most people to be free of their loans? The reason is interest continues to make the amount people owe grow to an ever climbing number. There is a better way to get your CDL you don't have to go into hock on trucking school.

CDL driving companies expenses and fees are growing at a rate that seems even higher than fuel costs. There is a great lack of understanding in the public so people are not aware of their real options. They just simply follow the heard into loans where they owe regular monthly payments for who knows how long. How many new drivers ask the important questions related to the true costs of cdl training school?

On the job training would be the recommended way to learn. Right now the DOT rules force new drivers to be 21 years or older so the chance for youth apprenticeship is not really realistic in trucking. However, I have read online that you can learn the basics by riding along with a family member over the spring break. Anything is possible if you believe.
